Let me tell you about one of my most beautiful days as an Executive Chef...
So, the other day I met a 24-year-old young man who aspired to the position of Sous/Head Chef at the restaurant in Timișoara. This was a guy who would send me frequent messages, telling me that he found himself in my posts and that I always inspired him with my way of being and what I do in the kitchen. I motivate him enormously by my involvement and by the fact that I care about my team and always put them first.
Among the questions I asked him during our meeting, one sounded something like this: "Why did you choose this path of the kitchen?" And his answer was immediately: "Chef, my girlfriend is very beautiful. We have been together for 8 years. When I met her, I felt bad because she was gorgeous, a model, always in the spotlight. I didn't want to get into the situation in which to be a nobody, to feel inferior or to be ashamed of me... so I chose to become a cook, to become a Chef, so that she too would have something to be proud of and not shame on me." Now they are together and have big plans for the future. I am convinced that they will succeed. Of course, he is still young and may have exaggerated claims for his age, but I am glad that he believes in himself and his worth, which he puts into practice. The most important thing is that it is on the right track. All things have their time and place.
Surely he now thinks I'm angry because he didn't take the job on my terms, because he didn't step out of his comfort zone. But I'm not angry, on the contrary, I'm happy that there are still passionate people who love gastronomy and who study the relationship between culture and food. The day will surely come when he will be part of my wonderful team, because everyone who is passionate, everyone who believes in themselves, everyone who believes in their dream, everyone who is willing to make sacrifices is welcome in my team!
There are two days a year when you can't do anything: yesterday and tomorrow. But today you can give your best and become an even better version than you were yesterday. And never forget that family is the most important thing on this earth! So surround yourself with people you love, follow your dreams and do everything you can to be the best at what you do. There are no limits when you put your passion forward and believe in yourself!
I hope this story inspired you and made you smile. Continue to enjoy your journey in the kitchen and in life.
Until next time, have tasty moments and outstanding achievements!
